12/15/11 Update

It is that time of year again!! Christmas is upon us and we have plenty of applications from families in need. Families wanting to give their children a Christmas but without the resources to do so.  We have a family that has been approved but we need your help! To read all about it click here!

I was a single mom for many years, I knew first hand what it was like struggling to raise your family without a partner or spouse, without the benefit of receiving child support. After tireless research trying to find support for my family, I discovered there weren’t many support resources for single parent families within my community.

It is said that we walk through our struggles for a reason and so it is that in Dec 2008 the idea for Blessing In Giving was born – a non-profit organization that would provide resources and financial assistance to local single parent families trying to make ends meet.  We also had a heart for parents dealing with the loss of a child.

My passion for Blessing In Giving is helping the single parent families within my own community of Hendricks County, Indiana and neighboring Morgan County.  The foremost goal of Blessing In Giving is to lend a helping hand and assist local families towards becoming self sufficient. My long term goal is for Blessing in Giving to grow large enough to be able to assist families throughout Indiana and even beyond.

I am fully aware (having been there myself) of that horrible feeling of being lost and in need. It’s truly an awful place to be.  However, I want to stress that Blessing In Giving is not about offering a “hand out” to anyone.

Blessing in Giving is a support system providing families with a much needed helping hand to get them back up and on their feet.

And hopefully, in the near not so distant future, those same families will be able to pay it forward and offer their own helping hand to someone else in need.
